For more than 25 years, Reece & associates (R&a) has been transforming communities with our civil engineering and land use planning experience. Whether across the Willamette Valley and coastal communities of Oregon—or in Washington and Nevada—we have brought meaningful skills and knowledge to the projects we have been a part of and built an extraordinary company. Now, with so much potential ahead of us, our impact will once again grow.
The team at R&a is pleased to announce that the company is being acquired by Emerio Design, an award-winning firm located in Beaverton, Oregon. Focused on engineering, surveying, and design, Emerio was established in 2005 and is the fourth largest BIPOC-owned company in Oregon. This acquisition will capitalize on the two firms’ industry experience and our focus on people, communities, and delivering a quality engineering product.
For the Reece team, this announcement brings with it a range of possibilities. With Emerio’s significant portfolio of projects for both public agencies and private/commercial developments, it provides our team access to the resources of a larger firm, allowing for additional professional development and career growth. This will positively impact the team’s ability to take on bigger, multi-phased projects, expand our capacity, and build on our depth of expertise.
For our clients, we will be able to offer a broader range of services through Emerio’s portfolio of civil engineering, surveying, structural engineering, construction management, land use planning, and house design services. Throughout the company, we can further demonstrate why we are the partner of choice and how this additional layer of knowledge, talent, and skills brings with it project coverage that complements the work needing to be done.
Together, our two leaders—Neil Fernando (Emerio) and Dave Reece (R&a)—share a common vision for where our industry is going. Forged by both their time in the engineering program at Oregon State University (OSU), and their love of Beaver sports, Neil and Dave view the combination of their two firms as a catalyst to transform the landscape of engineering moving ahead—but also to pay it forward as alumni to the university they are both so passionate about (through scholarships, speaking opportunities, and academic events). Today, the combined teams have 21 OSU graduates on staff.
R&a will continue to operate as a separate business under the new name of Reece Engineering & Survey, with founder Dave Reece, Principal-in-Charge, joining the executive team at Emerio as he transitions towards retirement in the coming years.
In our universe of engineering, the world of small businesses affecting true, meaningful change is small. The union of our two long-established, well-respected firms is significant. We believe that with our incredible teams, the future is bright.
Our team is beyond thrilled to join the Emerio family and grateful for the opportunity to serve our clients even better. We invite anyone with questions to please reach out to learn how this partnership can benefit your next project!
We love our customers, so feel free to visit during normal business hours.
